COMMON RIDING 2021
In February 2021 the Lauder Common Riding Committee made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Common Riding in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
However, we are working hard to make sure that we still mark the week and celebrate our ancient traditions, in accordance with all relevant government guidelines.
As and when details of what will be happening during the week are available they will be posted here and on our social media channels. The best way to keep up to date is to follow our Facebook page:
Sunday 26th July
Message from Lauder Church
Monday 27th July
Message from Lauder Ex Cornets Association
Tuesday 28th July
The Exiles Association will be marking the celebration of our Jubilee Cornets
Wednesday 29th July
Fancy Dress
One of the highlights of Common Riding Week is always the Fancy Dress Parade, but that – along with the rest of the week – has sadly been cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
But… we’re still going to hold a fancy dress competition, and this year we’ll bring the judges to you!
Judging will take place on Wednesday 29th July, and entries must be registered in advance. Winners will be announced on Friday 31st July.
For logistical reasons entrants must reside within Lauder, and the competition will have a simplified list of categories.
To enter, complete this form and send it to our dedicated email account: fancydress2020@outlook.com. If you're unable to send the form, just sent a note with the same information. If you have any questions, send them to the same email address.
Friday 31st July
Virtual Duck Race in association with Lauderdale Scout Group
Virtual Concert: “Song and Verse with the Ex-Cornets”
Saturday 1st August
Sadly there will be no Common Riding this year.
We look forward to 2021 which we hope will be bigger and better!
We're also asking the people of Lauder to decorate their houses and gardens to help celebrate Common Riding Week - see Facebook for details.
Please also look out for our Kids Treasure Hunt - more details to follow.
